Is Nutella Halal?

Quick answer It depends

Nutella contains sugar, palm oil, hazelnuts, cocoa, skimmed milk powder, whey, lecithin and vanillin — no meat, gelatine or alcohol. It is halal-certified in several countries. Most Muslims consider it halal; the only question some raise is the source of the whey.

Ingredients

The vanillin is a flavouring, not vanilla extract in alcohol. The emulsifier is soya lecithin.

Whey

Whey is a by-product of cheese making. Most scholars and certifiers accept it, but a stricter view questions whey from cheese made with animal rennet.
